ONE YEAR HAS GONE!
By Hasaka Ratnamalala
One year has gone. Omni TV in Toronto asked me what I think about the present situation in Sri Lanka. I told them there are no more suicide bombers, no blowing up buses no more shelling or shooting above all people are not getting killed. People can go out freely anywhere they want without thinking they may never come back home again. What else do you need? But these western journalists keep looking for something else. They were asking me whether there is peace in Sri Lanka. I told them Sri Lanka is in peace now but the question is whether countries like Canada would be in peace?
Is this the way to home grownTerrorism?
Even though there was an arrest and conviction of one LTTE money collector in Vancouver. LTTE haven’t put the full stop to its fundraising efforts. To get elected a band of money collectors, they collect over CDN$400,000 within few weeks. LTTE owned Kovils in Toronto still collect money without even bother about Revenue Canada. LTTE businesses are still thriving. LTTE successfully plant one of their moles in to the women’s wing of liberal party of Canada. It is possible she will ask for a riding to get elected to Canadian parliament in the future or may be whenever there will be a Liberal party a government she will be one of the party insiders who will have all the government secrets in hand to supply the once the most ruthless terrorist organization in the world. Few more LTTE front men are running for upcoming municipality election in Toronto and other cities. So who is in danger and who is in peace now?
Today (18thof May 2010) LTTE had a mass mourning at the Queen’s Park ground (in front of Ontario Parliament Building) where all hard core LTTE sympathizers in Toronto came out to mourn the dead LTTE leader. Even though LTTE still do not officially admit that LTTE big man was dead in May 2009. There I heard one of the LTTE front men and the Toronto municipality election candidate addressing the crowd saying Ealam is in his dream! Definitely! it will not be in Sri Lanka. Who knows where that could be? They were carrying LTTE flags and the pictures of LTTE leader with placards reading “Canada-lift the LTTE Ban!”
These signs indicate it is time to toughen your belts Canada! Sri Lanka has acquired its freedom from terrorism but Canada will receive its consequences for being the silent spectator.
