USA MADE INDIA TO DIG ITS OWN GRAVE
By Hasaka Ratnamalala
With the resolution on Sri Lanka passed at UNHRC with India’s support we are experiencing pro-western media in a struggle to spin the outcome as a victory to humanity and hide the real consequences. Sadly some Indian media establishments also joined the Uncle Sam’s media club.
The most unfortunate thing is no one in India seems to understand or debate onto measure the deep damage into India’s reputation and political future, triggered through March 22nd UNHRC vote. They all seem to be enjoying India’s new role as new kid in the Western block mentality.
What really happened, on the basis of Indian prospective can be summarise into these few words and that is,
“United States of America made India dig its own grave”. I am trying to categorize my reasons under four points.
The first reason; I don’t think I should explain India’s excellent past record on foreign policy until March 22nd , 2012. India was holding a moral high ground in her foreign policy and small sovereign nations around the world, look up to India when voting on international issues; India lost that credibility in the international stage and
become like an old prostitute of USA.
The Second reason; with this vote India also lost its regional leader position. I am not going to say that India handed over it to Sri Lanka, but that is what actually happened. Now small countries in the region will start to look up to Sri Lanka in international matters.
We experienced that already. All Asian countries except Malaysia, Jordan, and Kyrgyzstan voted against the resolution. Even those pro western countries in the region like Kuwait, Saudi Arabia voted against the resolution.
It is not because that they like Sri Lanka in particular but because the principled reason of, US resolution created a precedent to interfere into internal matters of sovereign nations without a real reason. These types of resolutions will allow US and the Western world to create a hoax panic through western media and take over any small nation if they
have a leader not aligned with Western agenda.
Someone could say that it is so called war crime or human rights violations made India to vote against Sri Lanka, but the truth is the Sri Lankan government’s failure to fight LTTE propaganda machine effectively in the Diaspora. As Professor Rohan Gunaratna said, LTTE lies has become the truths in the international level, as no one effectively fight these lies.
Today, distribution of pure lies of LTTE in the Diaspora has become livelihood and the motto of some western newsagencies and journalists. But the saddest part is India while knowing all facts about Sri Lanka’s conflict, took the side of the lie. India is the only country which could help its small neighbour in a situation like this; and
tell the truth about Sri Lanka to the world but India and its media look aside.
The Third reason is that; India let United States put its ugly foot in the region. One of the key targets of United States’ foreign policy is to put their ugly butt in South Asia. Importance of such need was highlighted in John Kerry Report. “On December 7, 2009 John Kerry, the Chairman of the SCFR, circulating the two member report among the rest of the committee members, makes comment by stressing the strategic importance of Sri Lanka to the US particularly, as the report emphasizes, the geopolitical location of the island; he goes on to add the need to maintain a strategic alliance with the island and the need to re-evaluate US foreign policy in the wake of the military defeat of the LTTE.” (Sarojini Dutt- Monday, 25 January 2010- Daily News-Colombo- also refer- SRI LANKA:
RECHARTING U.S. STRATEGY AFTER THE WAR-
Now the plan is into action, with the help of Sri Lanka’s closest neighbour. The question is what India would do, if US make its base in the region? Because it is possible that Sri Lankan political leaders like Ranil Wickramasinghe
or jailed Sarath Fonseka if they ever gain an election win, would without any hesitation allow US to setup base in Sri Lanka.
The Forth reason is; India surrendering to provincial Tamil chauvinism. During this Geneva drama one thing was very clear and that was United States has already made contacts with Tamilnadu and other Provincial level chauvinist politicians in India. Effects of this dangerous trend will display as India’s curse in the next
decade or so. This will further supported by the plummeting status of India’s National political parties, in the provincial level.
At one point in Geneva, United States terribly wanted India to reveal its position; which make them to gain few more votes. For that US made Karunanidhi to force Congress party leaders at the parliament and made Jayalilitha to bargain central on proposed Nuclear Plant in Kudankulam. US was not satisfied with Krishna’s statement at the parliament. .As the statement of PM Manmohan Singh coming out from Indian Parliament, US start re-lobbying using their mammoth diplomatic staffs claim to be 150 of them. That made some of the nations to abstain.
India knew that it is not only Sri Lanka benefits the extinction of LTTE, but it is none other than India is the most benefactor of it and Sri Lankans fought not only for themselves but also for India as well. I hope Indian political leaders realize this truth sooner rather than later and start a real debate on the danger of US manipulating internal matters in the South Asian countries. Otherwise it will be too late to mend. As India’s National political parties are losing its grounds day by day into chauvinist political leaders in the provincial level, it won’t take that long USA to make mother India into pieces.
One good thing happened due to Geneva drama is that Sri Lankans belongs to various ethnic groups and religions stepped into streets to make their voice loud and clear that they don’t tolerate international involvement in their internal matters in their country. That indeed indicates that, Sri Lankans are already reconciled just three years after ending of 26 years of separatist conflict. But unfortunate thing is the world doesn’t realize that.
